Weekly Markets in Merano
Almost every day there are different weekly markets in Merano where you can buy South Tyrolean or Italian specialties and even find bargains. You will find groceries, clothes and also bibelot.
Every Friday morning there is a weekly market at the train station, and on Tuesday there is a small weekly market.
Furthermore every Saturday morning you have the possibility to buy cheese, sausage and freshly harvested vegetables and fruits from local farmers.
Asfaltart
Every year in June you can meet many a "weird bird" or clown in the center of Merano! Street artists from all over the world transform the streets and squares of the spa town into a scene of magical experiences.
Clowns, artists, musicians, dancers, puppeteers, fire spitters and acrobats will enchant their audience. A street artists festival with a rich and varied program, organized by the Kallmünz Art Association in collaboration with the merchants of the Merano Old Town Association, the Animativa Association, Mairania 857 and the Teatro PraTiko.
Garden Nights in Trauttmansdorff Castle
The Garden Nights in Merano are a must-see for every music lover. From May to August bands from all over the world give concerts in the natural Amphitheatre of the gardens. The lovely lily pond is a really romantic scenery with good acoustics.
The concerts are part of the most important Wolrd Music Festival in North Italy and surely a very special highlight of your holidays in Merano.
Music Weeks Merano
From August to September the Music Weeks Merano take place in the Kurhaus. Once they have been arranged due to the 150-year anniversary of the spa town and nowaays there are top music events that meet the highest artistic standards.
Great orchestras give concerts in the Merano Kursaal, one of the most beautiful opera halls in Europe. In addition to traditional styles of music also concerts in “Crossover”-style take place.
The Grand Prix of Merano - Forst
Since the distant year 1935, the Grand Prix of Merano Forst, which is the undisputed highlight and at the same time the last race of the season for the Merano/Untermais racecourse, has annually fascinated horse sport lovers all over Europe. The race itself is a highly endowed obstacle race over 5000 meters, which is coupled with the European Lottery. Already at the first edition of the race the prize money was sensational (1 million Lire - today 1.032.914 Euro), so that the "Grand Prix of Merano" went down in history as a race of millions.
Grape Festival in the city centre of Merano
After the harvest in October the Merano Grape Festival takes place.
Above all this traditional harvest festival of the spa town impresses with the parade of bright-decorated floats and the diversified supporting program with marching bands and dancing chorus attract not only the locals but also tourists from all over the world.
Merano Wine Festival
The first Merano Wine Festival took place in 1992 and straightaway it was a huge success.
The special of this festival is not necessarily the wine tasting, but rather the fact that the exhibitors are present in person and you have the possibility to talk with them about their products.

In Advent the traditional Christmas market in Merano is a great attraction not only for children.
