Sledding at Merano and sourroundings

Winter in Merano is worth a visit every time, as despite its Mediterranean climate, Merano has a lot to offer, all in close proximity. This is thanks to the numerous mountains that surround Merano. For example, you can enjoy a beautiful sledding track in the nearby Merano 2000 ski area. Once a week, they also offer night sledding with floodlights, an experience not to be missed. The Schwemmalm also offers ideal conditions for sledders, and those who wish to rent the necessary equipment will find themselves well-served in either of the two ski areas. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, head to Vigiljoch, where time seems to move a bit slower and you can enjoy a winter paradise without any hustle and bustle. Moreover, Merano is not far from the ski areas in the Vinschgau region.

Skiing in South Tyrol

For skiing, the nearby ski areas of Merano 2000 and Schwemmalm in Ulten are well-suited, as they offer the right slopes for every level of skier, from beginners to professionals. For those seeking a more spectacular experience, a trip to Schnalstal to showcase their skiing skills on the glacier is an option. Lucky visitors might even have the opportunity to watch a professional racing team practice, as this is a popular ski destination among the pros, open even in the summer. Besides that, South Tyrol has many more ski areas to offer, with many of them reachable by a 30-minute to one-hour drive from Hotel Villa Westend in Merano.
